AvoCall vs Burner: FAQ

Is Burner free?
No. As of October 2026 Burner gives new users a 3-day free trial through Apple or Google, then a paid plan. On burnerapp.com, Standard is $7.99 a month or $47.99 a year and Premium is $12.99 a month or $69.99 a year; app store prices are higher.
Does Burner use my cell minutes?
By default, yes. Burner's app listings say calls use your existing phone service minutes, and they appear on your carrier bill; texts don't use your carrier's SMS plan. AvoCall calls and texts run over Wi-Fi or mobile data.
Can I call other countries with Burner?
No. Burner says its numbers can only call and text US and Canadian numbers, though they still work while you travel if you have data. AvoCall can call a limited list of countries, paid per minute from wallet credit.
Do I need a second SIM card or phone for AvoCall?
No. AvoCall is an app on the iPhone or Android phone you already have. Calls and texts run over Wi-Fi or mobile data, so there is no second SIM and no second device.
Can I get verification codes on an AvoCall number?
Verification-text compatibility varies by sender. Some services send codes to app-based numbers and some do not, so AvoCall never guarantees that a specific code will arrive.
