Who makes AvoCall
AvoCall's Privacy Policy states that "AvoCall is operated by Avo LLC from Sheridan, Wyoming, United States," and the Terms of Service list the company's mailing address. The terms are governed by Wyoming law, and you must be at least 18 to use the service.
What AvoCall costs
AvoCall is free to download. There are two ways to use it:
- Free plan. Currently for eligible new Android accounts. Ad-supported, with a limited monthly allowance of US and Canada minutes and texts. The current allowance is shown in the app.
- AvoCall+. An optional subscription with unlimited US and Canada calls and texts (fair use policy applies), voicemail transcription, a custom voicemail greeting, no in-app ads, and your number kept for as long as you stay subscribed.
Prices can change and can differ between the App Store, Google Play, and the website, so AvoCall does not print a fixed price in guides like this one. See current pricing; the store or checkout also shows the price, billing period, and renewal terms before you confirm. Plan options can differ between iPhone and Android, and the app shows what is available to you before you pay anything.
International calling is optional. International calls to supported destinations use wallet credit at the per-minute rate shown before you dial. Purchased calling credit does not expire.
How AvoCall numbers work
When you sign up, you choose an available number by area code or city. Calls and texts to that number arrive in the AvoCall app, and calls and texts you place from the app use your AvoCall number by default, so your personal number stays private. Everything runs over Wi-Fi or mobile data, alongside the SIM and number you already have.
A few limits are worth knowing before you sign up:
- No emergency calls. AvoCall does not support 911. Keep using your regular phone service for emergencies.
- Verification texts vary by sender. Some services do not send codes to virtual numbers. Read Can a virtual number receive verification texts? before you rely on one for a login.
- No number transfers in. Moving (porting) an existing number into AvoCall is not currently offered.
- Unused numbers can be released. On the free plan, a number can be released after the inactivity period disclosed in the app, and a released number may later go to someone else. AvoCall+ keeps your number while you are subscribed.
Privacy and safety
The Privacy Policy describes what AvoCall collects and why. A few points people ask about most:
- AvoCall stores call and message records needed to run the service, such as the numbers involved, times, and delivery status.
- Outgoing texts are checked automatically for scams, spam, and illegal goods. The policy says the providers that run these checks are configured not to keep the text.
- Session replay (screen recording) is disabled in every mobile app build.
- The free plan shows ads. On the website, non-essential analytics and advertising tags stay off until you choose to accept them.
- AvoCall's Acceptable Use Policy bans harassment, scams, robocalls, and spam, and accounts that break it can be suspended.
If a service you sign up for texts you a verification code, that code comes from that service, not from AvoCall. AvoCall will never ask you to read a code back to anyone.
How to cancel AvoCall+ or close your account
To cancel AvoCall+, cancel it where you bought it:
- On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then AvoCall.
- On Android, open the Google Play Store, go to Subscriptions, then AvoCall.
- If you subscribed on avocall.net, sign in to your account and open subscription management.
AvoCall+ features stay active until the end of the period you already paid for. Refunds follow applicable law and the policy of the store or checkout you paid through.
To close your account, use Settings, then Account, then Delete Account in the app, or avocall.net/delete-account without reinstalling the app. Access ends right away and your AvoCall number is released. AvoCall keeps account records for the period the law requires and to prevent abuse, and the mobile number you verified with cannot be used to open a new account. Closing the account does not cancel a Google Play or App Store subscription, so cancel that in the store as well.
How to check it yourself
- Read the Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Acceptable Use Policy.
- Look at the developer details and reviews on the iPhone TestFlight beta and Google Play listings.
- Email [email protected] with a question before you pay.
If AvoCall sounds like a fit, compare it with other options in the best second phone number apps, or download the app and pick your number.
